Things worth doing rarely announce themselves while you’re at your desk with 2080 open. They turn up mid-article, halfway down a documentation page, in a link someone sent you. 2080 now has a browser extension, so those pages become tasks without you leaving the tab.
The page title becomes the task name and the URL goes into the description, so the task still makes sense a week later.
- Click the 2080 icon in your toolbar to open a small capture window: edit the task name, add a note, and choose which list it belongs in. Cmd/Ctrl+Enter saves.
- Or skip the window entirely — right-click a page and choose Save page to 2080, to drop it straight into your Inbox.
- Right-clicking a link saves that link instead. Right-clicking selected text saves the page with your selection quoted underneath the URL.
- Captured tasks appear in the app straight away, with a confirmation as they land.
- Works in Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc and Vivaldi.
Nothing leaves your machine. The extension talks to 2080 over a local connection on your own computer — there’s no account, no server, and no copy of your browsing anywhere else. The two are paired with a token you copy from the app, and only browser extensions can reach it. You can switch the connection off or issue a new token at any time in Settings → Browser Extension
Installing it
The extension is a separate download from the app. In 2080, open Settings → Browser Extension and click Download Extension (it’s also on the download page). Unzip it somewhere you’ll leave it — your browser loads the extension from that folder every time it starts — then open your browser’s extensions page, turn on Developer mode, and use Load unpacked to select the 2080-web-capture folder. The extension’s options page opens on install; paste in the pairing token from Settings and you’re done.
